Tigers already carry enough presence on their own, so I wanted the drawing to feel fairly restrained and let the eye contact do most of the work.

The darker background helped pull the focus into the face and markings, while the softer fur detail kept it from feeling too harsh or overworked. There’s something oddly calm about the way big cats can look completely still while also seeming like they’re assessing every decision you’ve ever made.
