A surprising amount of this drawing involved staring at reference photos wondering who approved this many markings on one animal.

The aim with this piece was to keep things fairly restrained and natural, focusing more on the relaxed posture and steady expression than pushing it into something overly dramatic. The graphite was built up slowly in layers to soften the transitions through the fur while still keeping enough contrast to hold the detail together.
